What is Small Text?
Small text uses special Unicode characters that appear smaller than standard letters. Unlike changing font size (which only works where you control the styling), Unicode small text works everywhere: social media bios, comments, messages, usernames, and any text field. The three main styles are superscript (raised small letters), subscript (lowered small letters), and small caps (uppercase-shaped but lowercase-sized letters).
When to Use Small Text
Small text is popular for Instagram bios, Twitter/X display names, Discord usernames, and anywhere you want your text to stand out. Small caps are commonly used in academic citations, legal documents, and typographic design. Superscript is useful for mathematical notation, footnotes, and ordinal indicators like 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
